published: Tuesday | September 4, 2007

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Guyana is observing 'Education Month' in September with emphasis on the dangers of obesity and the deadly HIV/AIDS virus.

Education Month is being observed under the theme 'The school health, nutrition and HIV/AIDS education".

"It will be recalled that recently the Ministry of Health sounded a warning on the increasing percentage of children suffering from obesity and called for measures to be taken to address the problem such as expanded and extensive physical education programme in schools," Education Minister Shaik Baksh said in a message marking the occasion.
